Sustainability was central to the planning and construction of “C3 Bremen”, a joint project between BLG Logistics Group and Mercedes-Benz. In addition to a holistic energy concept for heating, hot water and ventilation, comprehensive building insulation and intelligent lighting control, the building’s own energy generation capacity was a key factor. The roof-mounted photovoltaic system can generate around 8.4 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually for the site.

“In many respects, the ‘C3 Bremen’ logistics center can be seen as a blueprint for the construction and design of logistics properties of the future,” says Frank Dreeke, Chairman of the Board of BLG Logistics Group. The convenient location on rail, water and road also contributes to sustainable operations. The center bundles Mercedes-Benz’s global Completely Knocked Down (CKD) production processes. Vehicle parts are prepared at the CKD for shipment via the major German seaports worldwide and assembled at the destination plants. After all, securing many qualified jobs in 2023 can only be implemented in a future-proof manner if climate protection is simultaneously considered as an elementary component of investments.
